There are still thousands of Hydro Quebec customers without power following yesterday’s storm.
On the West Island about 3500 customers are off the grid in Pierrefonds, Dorval, Pointe Claire, Dollard, Beaconsfield, Baie D’Urfe, Kirkland and Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue.
In Vaudreuil-Soulanges you can add close to another 2700 from Ille Perrot almost all the way to the Ontario border with Saint-Lazare being the hardest hit where there still close to 1400 customers in the dark.
Hydro crews are out and working and the utility is asking for patience and understanding saying that they aren’t able to provide any timeline as to when those who are affected can expect to get their electricity back.
Across the province there are close to 24 Thousand Hydro customers without power, most of whom are in Montreal.
That number is down from about 175,000 yesterday.
Damage and Injuries
Yesterday’s storm came along with winds gusting up to 100 kilometers an hour.
Hence, the power outages, as trees were snapped bringing down power lines and causing damage to homes.
Urgences Sante reported receiving several calls to tend to people who had been struck by falling branches.
One of those calls was in Senneville where a cyclist was hit by a falling tree.
It took firefighters with chainsaws to free the man who suffered head injuries.
According to the ambulance service none of the calls involved serious injuries.
