Statcare Paid Parking Now In Effect

Some changes to the Southwest One Statcare clinic have both residents and merchants upset.

The building that houses the very busy Statcare walk in clinic is now making people pay for parking. The new paid parking system is creating a disaster says the executive director of the Statcare clinic. People already have a hard time finding parking, and now to get out will cost even more time. The General Manager of the complex says that it was just the weather causing delays getting out.

This however is not the case, last week several people were stuck in long lines of up to 20 minutes or more trying to get out as parking attendants were validating tickets.

One reason for the new paid system is to prevent people to park at Statcare for free and walk over to the Lakeshore hospital. The new parking system costs between $1 and $4.

Business owners are concerned because of lost business and even their staff is having trouble finding parking. The general manager has denied long wait times, despite complaints from people trying to exit the building.
