The RCMP is looking for your help, more specifically your children’s help.
Not with a criminal investigation, but with naming their new crop of foals who one day may be part of the famed Musical Ride.
There are twelve baby horses that need names and the Mounties are looking to children, 14 years of age and younger to submit their suggestions.
Those whose suggestions are chosen will receive a picture of the foal they named along with a certificate signed by the RCMP Commissioner and engraved horseshoe.
The officer in charge of the RCMP Musical Ride and Heritage Branch, Superintendent Kevin Fahey, said “This year marks the 80th anniversary of our breeding program and there is no better way to find names for foals born on our farm than by seeking the help of young people from across the country.”
Here are the criteria for submissions:
The name must begin with the letter R;
Participants must be 14 years old or younger;
Only one suggestion per child will be accepted;
Participants must live in Canada;
Online submissions must be received no later than April 30, 2019 at 11:59 pm EST;
Proposals sent by mail must be postmarked no later than April 30, 2019.
The winning names will be chosen by a committee of employees of the Musical Ride and Heritage Branch of the RCMP.
They will be announced in May with the winners posted on the RCMP website.
