Plane Spotting

Jacques de Lesseps Observatory Park in Dorval is one of the best-kept secrets on the West Island. Located at the corner of Jenkins and Halpern and adjacent to runways 24-L and 06-R, the park offers up close and unobstructed views of aircraft taking off and landing at Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport. It even has bleachers and benches for the convenience and comfort of plane spotters. I watched a few of the big boys take off yesterday, including the Air Canada Boeing 787 in the first video below. My son, Sam, happened to be at the park on Grand Prix Sunday in June and saw two Canadian Forces CF-18s take off (second video) for the fly-past at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
