Been on the radio for parts of five decades (1978-present) and it still doesn’t seem like work. It never does when you’re passionate about what you do. Started in Charlottetown, also did a five year stint in Toronto before moving to Montreal for good in 1985. Morning man at The Jewel 106.7 FM since March of 2015 and enjoying doing radio in its purest form: as a highly-localized endeavor that serves and relates to the people in the community.
Favourite Food: Coming from the Maritimes, I’m pretty partial to seafood, whether it’s fresh lobster bisque at a high end restaurant or fried clams from a roadside fish shack. I also love a good steak and baby back pork ribs – basically all the stuff that will kill you dead if you don’t eat it in moderation and supplement it with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables.
Favourite Movie: I’m a longtime military history buff so most of my favourites are in that genre, including Patton, Saving Private Ryan and the German productions of Stalingrad and Untergang – the latter being the one that spawned all the Hitler parodies on YouTube. I also love and strongly recommend a couple of comedies that flew under the box office radar: Burn After Reading with an absolutely star-studded cast including George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich and J.K. Simmons, and Snatch – a British comedy by Guy Ritchie starring Jason Statham. Brad Pitt is also in that one playing an Irish gypsy to hilarious effect.
Favourite Activities: Spending time with my kids, travel when I can afford it, reading.
Favourite Artists: Classic rock growing up, from the Eagles to Black Sabbath, although more recently I’ve developed a taste for modern country, especially the stuff that crosses genres into blues rock, pop like Blake Shelton, Brooks and Dunn, Florida- Georgia Line, Blackberry Smoke and Cadillac Three. And of course anything and everything on The Jewel, except Seasons in the Sun by Terry Jacks 😉
