Open Fire Ban Up North

A ban on open fires has been issued for the northern part of the province.

According to the provincial forest fire prevention agency (SOPFEU) there have been 260 forest fires so far this year in Quebec affecting close to 5200 hectares.

The 10 year average for this time of year is 256 fires.

Anyone defying the ban is liable to a fine.
