When The Law Detects Smoke

Dear Tasso,

Tomorrow is National Pot Smokers Day. I work in law enforcement and cannot give you my name. I was single forever until meeting Bruce. He has been great and always treats me with respect and kindness. Quite a change from the last boyfriend.

On Sunday, I discovered Bruce smokes marijuana because it eases the pain from a back injury he suffered while working construction. Bruce doesn’t have a prescription for the weed.

I am torn over what to do. When I became an officer of the law I took an oath to protect and serve and to uphold the law. What Bruce is doing is illegal. On the other hand, I think we could have a future together. What do I do? Turn him in or not?
