Jewel 106.7 – Hockey History Lives Here (Okay, It Lives Close And Visits Here)

From 9/11 to Max Pacioretty to the changing face of the Stanley Cup, we had a free-wheeling and thoroughly enjoyable in-studio chin wag this morning with longtime Montreal sports journalist and hockey historian Dave Stubbs from nhl.com. Dave is putting the finishing touches on his latest labour of love: a melancholy look at the legendary names that are coming off the Stanley Cup as time matches inexorably forward. Please click on the link below to listen to the two part interview, and enjoy the amazing pictures provided by Dave in the photo gallery showing various designs of the Cup: Montreal Maroons in the mid-1930s (NHL president Frank Calder is immediately behind the trophy), Leafs captain Syl Apps with the “stovepipe” in the 1940s, and Henri Richard and Toe Blake in the 1960s.
