It seems that the Provincial Transport Ministry has decided enough is enough with the Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge.
They say that the constant upgrades and renovations just aren’t making the grade and that the span is going to have to be replaced.
A report over the weekend indicates that the wheels are in motion for a new bridge to be built.
An announcement on the Environment Ministry’s website doesn’t hint at just how much the project will cost or even when work will start.
But, it does point to the Province’s wish list for the new bridge.
They are looking for the new link to feature three traffic lanes, a dedicated bus lane and a bike path.
More than 80 Thousand vehicles cross the Île-aux-Tourtes every day.
The bridge was built in 1965.
