A Canadian man recently freed with his American wife and children
after being held hostage for about five years in Afghanistan is now
facing 15 charges — including assault and sexual assault.
Neither the federal government nor Ottawa Police have commented
on the charges against 34-year-old Joshua Boyle.
But, court documents show he faces eight counts of assault, two
each of sexual assault and unlawful confinement, along with one
count each of uttering a death threat, misleading a police officer and causing someone to “take a noxious thing, namely
Trazodone”, adrug that among other things, can induce sleep.
Theacts allegedly occurred between mid-October and December 30th after Boyle returned to Canada.
Caitlan Coleman was pregnant at the time she and Boyle were taken hostage by a Taliban-linked group in 2012, and the couple had three
children in captivity.
