You can no longer take your dog with you when you go for a stroll on the Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue Boardwalk.
After a 25 year ban on dogs was lifted in 2014, the town installed dog waste bag dispensers at a cost of $500 each.
Despite that, Mayor Paola Hawa said that dog owners are still not picking up after their pets, taking away from people’s enjoyment of the area.
The Mayor stated “Everybody has a responsibility to pick up after their dogs. If they can’t pick up after their dogs, then too bloody bad.”
Mayor Hawa also pointed out that there is a nearby dog run with another to be built and that while the wooden portion of the boardwalk is off-limits, the entire Parks Canada Canal area is still accessible to dogs
