The Chemin des Chenaux overpass on the 40 in Vaudreuil-Dorion could remain closed until 2021.
That, according to Vaudreuil-Dorion Mayor Guy Pilon.
A citizen asked Mayor Pilon for an update on the overpass at council last night and the mayor replied that he was waiting on a follow-up from the Ministry of Transport.
The Ministry is scheduled to announce its decision on exactly how the issue will be addressed later this month, the worst case scenario being reconstruction, which could take until 2021.
Mayor Pilon said that he will be meeting with the Transport Ministry in the coming weeks and that should the overpass be closed beyond 2019, he will ask that pedestrians and cyclists have access to it.
The overpass was closed to traffic last September flowing an inspection that revealed defects affecting its load bearing capacity.
