The Pioneer Bar in the Pointe Claire Village is not going to be torn down – at least not for now.
Pointe Claire council has turned down a proposed condo project that would have seen the 117 year-old building demolished.
Pointe Claire Mayor, John Belvedere said “Any demolition of any building in Pointe Claire is not allowed, unless we have an approved project to replace it”.
The Mayor went on to call the decision “ a win-win for everybody”.
Mayor Belvedere said that if the developers want to go ahead with their project, modifications to their plan will have to be made.
Consultations have been ordered with the heritage society and the public.
